SHCC Engages in Vital Discussions at CHCC 2024 Business Policy Summit

Sacramento, CA, April 3 – Members and board members of the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) were key participants at the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce Business Policy Summit held in Sacramento on Wednesday, April 3rd. The summit, a gathering of leaders from Hispanic chambers and Latino organizations across the state, served as a critical platform for SHCC to engage on pressing issues impacting small businesses in California.

Objective of Participation: The SHCC attended the summit with the aim to stay informed about the latest policies affecting small businesses in California, to understand the current legislative bills the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC) supports or opposes, and to foster connections with leaders and members of Latino organizations statewide.

Key Issues Discussed:

• Retail Theft: SHCC took a stand on addressing the widespread issue of retail theft that is adversely affecting small businesses, advocating for enhanced accountability and law enforcement measures.
• ADA Compliance: Emphasizing the necessity of making digital assets like websites ADA compliant without burdening small businesses with frivolous lawsuits.
• Small Business Funding: SHCC advocated for an increase in state budget allocation for small business and capital programs through the Office of Small Business Advocate and GoBiz.

Outcomes and Highlights: The SHCC is now actively encouraging small businesses in Solano County to communicate with state legislators.
