CCC: EARN MORE THAN A DIPLOMA

The California Conservation Corps helps young adults enter the working world with the education and training they need to be successful.

Through charter school partnerships, Corpsmembers can earn their high school diploma all while getting paid to develop skills in firefighting, forestry, energy, culinary, and more.

“I thought I was going to struggle, but I found myself fitting in with my peers, the program, work, and school.” said Corpsmember Frankie Lopez. “I really love it. You can connect with the people around you and grow with them.”

Each week, Corpsmembers work 40-hours and spend 10-hours in the classroom. This structure helps CCC’s young adults build up their credentials while opening the door to new career paths.

“I’ve taken a naturalist class where we learned about wildlife, and I really liked it,” said Corpsmember Breanna Morales Andrade. “I really like felling trees too. I never knew I would be doing that.”

The CCC welcomes young adults, ages 18- 25, and military veterans up to age 29, into the program year-round.

“If you don’t exactly know what you want to do, coming to a residential center - where rent’s cheap, you get food, a place to sleep, can work, and go to school – it’s definitely a plus,” said Corpsmember Tony Tejeda Olmos.
